As the year comes to a close I wish to thank, Lisa Berrittella on chairing the Law School for Claims Professionals program. This was a particular tough year and Lisa did a marvelous job in putting an excellent program together. Thanks also to our local chairs, Shawn Martin, Liz Fitzpatrick, Ed Flink, and George Skandalis. You all were a big help.

Thanks to Dennis Brady, Shawn Downes and Mike Tromello for the great job they did in hosting the Fall Reception at Donovans last month. We had a fabulous turnout of attorneys, judges and legislators. A wonderful time was had by all. Thanks also goes to our district reps, AJ Smith, Jim Keefe, Jim O'Connor and Nelson Timken for their help in sponsoring this event.

Annual Meeting

Our annual section dinner with the Trial Lawyers Section will be held during the week of the annual state bar meetings. The dinner will be held on Wednesday, January 27, 2010 at Cipriani Wall Street. We held the dinner there last year and it was a great success. Please save the date and join us. The next day, Thursday, January 28, 2010 our joint CLE program with the Trial Lawyers Section will be held at Hilton New York, 1335 Avenue of the Americas, New York City (Note the location change from prior years). Our chair, Michael Tromello, has helped put a great program together. The topics include: The Tactical use of the Pattern Jury Instructions (PJI); What every personal injury attorney should know about Surrogates Court; Ahlborn Liens On personal injury practice; Technology and the Court Room: Rules of evidence in the electronic age; and Workers Compensation – Overview of recent reforms and their implementation. Please plan to join us.

If you are interested in joining our section’s executive committee you can obtain an application from our website homepage. Please return your application by December 31st.
