The New York Rules of Professional Conduct- Part 1200 These Rules of Professional Conduct were promulgated as joint rules of the Appellat Division of the Supreme Court, effective April 1, 2009. They supersede the former Part 1200 (Disciplinary Rules of the Code of Professional responsibility).

Attorney Web Sites: Ethical Issues are Only the Beginning: Non-Traditional Advetising on the Internet /Written by Adam R. Bialek, Paris A. Gunther (Committee on Law Practice Management member) and Scott M. Smedresman

As appearing in the June 2009 NYSBA Journal  this article contains valuable information covering a range of issues including non-traditional Web site design concers, interactivity, the Digital Millenium Copyright Act, ethical issues and much more.

 

The Law Practice Management Committee is offering the following programs to assist attorneys with their marketing through technology:

  • “Internet Marketing for Law Firms” was one of the first of these programs. Participants learned the secrets of Internet Marketing—not just having a website—but using the Web in a variety of ways to generate business legally and ethically. The CLE course was presented on May 6, 2009 and is now available for sale as an online program (downloadable to an MP3 player).
  • “Twittering, Linking, Posting & Friending- Legal Implications of Social Networking”  presented as a telephone seminar on June 23, 2009, this program assisted attorneys in learning the basics of popular social networking tools. Participants learned how to: participate in social networks and explore the possibilities and pitfalls of using: LinkedIn; Facebook or MySpace; Twitter; Blogs; YouTube and other Internet TV technologies.  This program is now  available as an online program (downloadable to an MP3 player).
  • “How to Help Potential Clients Find You on the Web-Search Engine Optimization”  now available as an online program, this program will teach you how you can build a strong web presence yourself, and in the alternative how you can find someone to do it for you.
