Diversity Committee Activity in Review

As published in the NY Business Law Journal:

Winter 2011 NY Business Law Journal
Diversity Committee

The Business Law Section remains firmly committed to the goal of encouraging greater diversity among its members. Toward this end, the Committee has undertaken a Diversity Initiative, pursuant to which Executive Committee members have agreed to participate in the NYSBA’s “Meet the Sections” events at New York law schools. These events were scheduled to take place at New York Law School (October 18); Cardozo Law School (November 2), SUNY Buffalo School of Law (November 7), Pace Law School (November 15), and Syracuse Law School (November 17). The objective of these events is to promote student membership in the Section, especially among women and minority students, and the development of our Mentoring program for third year law students and newly admitted attorneys.

Additionally, managing partners of New York law firms have been asked to identify minority associates at their firms whose practice areas complement the agendas and programming of our respective Committees.
