GOVERNMENTAL REGULATIONS COMMITTEE

Dear Members,
The
Governmental Relations Committee’s role is to monitor and analyze
legislation pending before the State Legislature and Congress. The
Committee’s goal is to ensure that the best interests of the
Section and the Association are served and to lobby on behalf of those
interests. The Governmental Relations Committee serves as a direct
voice in the State Government, and also conveys the Committee’s
views on a broad range of issues to the relevant parties. Further, the
Committee regularly communicates the status of important bills and
regulations to the other TICL Committees, in an effort to develop and
implement public policy issues of importance to the legal community and
the public at large. Its services also include providing its
members with current information and materials not readily available to
the public.
The Committee’s members are
encouraged to examine public policy questions related to their areas of
practice, and to draw on their expertise to propose innovative
responses. The Committee may also propose formal comments on pending
legislation, agency regulations, or proposed Court rule changes, in
accordance with the internal TICL approval process.
Our Governmental Relations team is
comprised of attorneys and legislative professionals committed to
representing our section’s interests at all levels of local and
regional bodies in the State of New York. We
combine legal and advocacy skills with strategic skills that have been
developed over decades of work on an extensive variety of legislative
and regulatory projects.
