Dear Coverage
Committee Members::
As the Chair for the
Insurance Coverage Committee, I look forward to working with current and
new members. We have an exciting and busy agenda for this
Section. Coverage professionals have
had a significant presence in the news and considerable impact on issues
such as the subprime mortgage fall-outs, Ponzi schemes occurring
domestically as well as internationally, newly enacted legislation, and
forever evolving policy interpretations.
We understand how important it is to remain involved
and be heard not only on local levels but also national levels.
Our goal is to foster an environment in which New York's coverage attorneys can contribute to and learn from
an exchange of views. Join us if you have not done so already by
either calling or emailing us. We
encourage an exchange in perspectives and
experiences. Here are some
opportunities and upcoming events for everyone to get involved in;
whether you want to participate or attend:
Law School for
Insurance Professionals – In
September, the TICL Section will again be sponsoring its proclaimed
annual seminar providing insurance professionals and industry members
with a basic understanding of liability and coverage concepts that
surface with every claim and litigation. The event continues to be a big success and well attended. For

Personal Insurance Lines
Seminar – In Spring 2011, this
Section will be presenting a seminar through-out various locations
in New York State addressing current topics
in the Personal Lines arena. If you are
interested or have suggestions about topics you want to hear about or

The Coverage Committee List Serve. All Committee members can be
part of the TICL-Coverage Committee List Serve. Attorneys trade
views with hundreds of the State's top coverage professionals with the
mere click of a mouse. All you need to do is join TICL and its
Coverage Committee and we will add you to the list.
Recruit. An
expanding and diverse membership is crucial to the ongoing vitality of
the Section’s programs. Please help by reaching out to
colleagues and acquaintances. If you are interested in joining the
Membership Committee, please contact its Chair, Robert Coughlin,

Publish.
Contribute to NYSBA publications, such as:
* Insurance Law Practice, a periodically updated
two-volume treatise;
* The TICL Journal, a showcase for scholarship;
* The TICL Newsletter, a networking opportunity and educational tool;
and
* Handbooks for CLE seminars offered by the TICL Section.
