Eighth Annual Edith I. Spivack Symposium
The Secrets to Her Success:
Trials, Tribulations and Tips of Women Trial and Appellate Lawyers
- January 24, 2012
“Where are the Women Litigators?” This question was
recently asked by judges in the First Department and Southern District
of New York. Their informal survey showed women's participation in
commercial litigation at the trial and appellate level was far lower
than their representation in law firms. Why does this discrepancy
persist? What can women litigators do to change the numbers? The
Committee on Women in the Law is pleased to offer a program spotlighting
the strategies used by women lawyers for taking lead roles in trial
and appellate work in both state and federal courts. An expert in
the field of ethics and professional responsibility will also examine a
number of ethical issues that arise while preparing for trial, in the
courtroom and handling appeals.
