The Mission of the Committee on
Arbitration and ADR is to promote the effective and fair use of
ADR by parties and litigators seeking alternative mechanisms to resolve
disputes. The Committee accomplishes
its Mission by: recruiting experts in
the ADR field as members of the Committee; being aware of and
analyzing developments and case law including standards of training/or
competence (credentialing) of arbitrators/mediators; developing
positions that influence thinking about arbitration/ADR to ensure its
continuing viability; writing reports on important arbitration and ADR
related subjects; liaison with other ADR committees; providing
assistance in the appointment of panelists for administration of court
ADR programs; working with the legislature, government, courts, and
other bar associations on arbitration and ADR related matters like the
Revised Uniform Arbitration Act and the Uniform Mediation Act;
sponsoring Section programs to educate and inform arbitrators and
members of the bar.
The Arbitration and ADR
Committee is co-chaired by Deborah Masucci, AIG Domestic Brokerage
Group, New York City and Carroll E. Neeseman, Morrison & Foerster,
LLP, New York City.

* Assisting OCA pilot program in Westchester County providing
ethics
opinions to mediators, including creating a web-based
database of
opinions
