Membership Committee
Greetings and welcome to the webpage for the Membership Committee of
the Senior Lawyers Section.
We are enjoying the challenge of attracting and retaining members for
our new section. We are off to a good start, with over 1200
members joining in our first eleven months. Our members vary in
all demographics other than minimum age, although we do have at least
one member under the age of 55. The Association’s membership
rolls show that more than 18,000 members are 55 and over, so here is our
pool of prospective new Section members, a pool that grows every
year.
Under the leadership of our dynamic chair, Justin Vigdor, our very
engaged Section Executive Committee, and with very able assistance and
staff support from Richard Martin, the Section has many initiatives for
its members. Many of you will have received the inaugural issue of
our magazine, The Senior Lawyer, which we commend to all and hope that
you found it interesting and useful.
On October 29-31 the Section held its first Fall Meeting at The
Sagamore Resort in Bolton’s Landing, NY, on Lake George in the
Adirondacks. The meeting was held jointly with the Elder Law
Section with a full program of professional CLE sessions and many social
opportunities to network, chat and greet. The feedback we have
received has been that the weekend was very much enjoyed by the
attendees.
We look forward to continuing to promote Section membership
initiatives, making Section membership both increasingly valuable and
enjoyable. We are scheduling a Committee meeting during the
Association’s Annual Meeting in NYC in the last week in January,
2010, to meet one another and discuss Committee initiatives. Once the
date, time and place have been finalized, we will post here.
