New York State Bar Association President Seymour W. James, Jr. has sent a letter to Senator John J. Bonacic, chair of the Senate Judiciary Committee, endorsing the nomination of Justice Sheila Abdus-Salaam as associate judge of the New York State Court of Appeals.
"On behalf of the State Bar Association, I am privileged to offer my strong support of Justice Abdus-Salaam for a seat on the state's highest court," said James (The Legal Aid Society in New York City). "After an extensive review of her court decisions, legal writings and qualifications, the Bar Association has concluded that Justice Abdus-Salaam possesses the judicial temperament, scholarship and genuine concern for the citizens of New York state that would make her an ideal addition to the court."
