ALBANY-Six attorneys have been elected to the Executive Committee of the New York State Bar Association.

The 27-member Executive Committee oversees the management and administration of the State Bar within policies determined by its governing body, the House of Delegates. The new Executive Committee members are:

Catherine A. Christian of Manhattan, Vice-President of the 1st Judicial District. A graduate of Hofstra University and the Dickinson School of Law, Christian is an assistant district attorney for New York County. She is a member of the executive staff of the Office of the Special Narcotics Prosecutor for the City of New York, where she serves as counsel to the Trial Division and chief of the Alternative Sentencing Division.

Sharon Stern Gerstman of Buffalo, Vice-President of the 8th Judicial District. A graduate of Brown University and the University of Pittsburgh School of Law, Gerstman is of counsel to Magavern Magavern Grimm. She concentrates in the areas of mediation and arbitration, and appellate practice.

Richard Gutierrez of Queens, Vice-President of the 11th Judicial District. A graduate of Brooklyn College and Seton Hall Law School, Gutierrez is a solo practitioner and handles criminal, personal injury, medical malpractice and civil rights cases.

Michael J. Gaffney of Staten Island, Vice-President of the 13th Judicial District. A graduate of the State University of New York at Oneonta and New York Law School, Gaffney is a solo practitioner in civil litigation.

T. Andrew Brown of Rochester, Member-at-Large. A graduate of Syracuse University and the University of Michigan Law School, Brown is the managing partner of Brown & Hutchinson. He concentrates his practice in civil litigation and employment law.

Edwina Frances Martin of Staten Island, Member-at-Large. A graduate of Williams College and New York University Law School, Martin is the legislative and budget director for New York City Councilwoman Debi Rose (49th Council District).

Their terms began on June 1.

The 77,000-member New York State Bar Association is the largest voluntary state bar association in the nation. It was founded in 1876.
