ROCHESTER ATTORNEY RECEIVES STATE BAR ASSOCIATION'S PROFESSIONALISM AWARD

Attorney praised for integrity, conduct and advocacy

NEW YORK -Jill M. Cicero of Rochester(Jill M. Cicero & Associates) has been selected to receive the 2009 Attorney Professionalism Award from the New York State Bar Association. Association President Bernice K. Leber of New York (Arent Fox LLP) will present the award to Cicero on Thursday, January 29 during the Annual Meeting in Manhattan.

Sponsored by the Association's Committee on Attorney Professionalism, the Attorney Professionalism Award recognizes an Association member who displays the highest standards of professionalism, including dedication to the service of clients, commitment to promoting respect for the legal system in the pursuit of justice and the public good, outstanding ethical conduct, competence, good judgment, integrity and civility.

"Throughout her career, Jill Cicero has been the consummate professional and raised the standards of the legal profession. She has set a fine example for lawyers of exemplary conduct, strong integrity and unfailing dedication to her clients," said Committee on Attorney Professionalism Chair RoseAnn C. Branda of New York(Caruso, Caruso & Branda, PC). "It is fitting that we recognize Jill with this award for her outstanding contributions to the practice of law."

Ciceroreceived dozens of letters in support of her nomination from colleagues, judges and clients praising her ethics, effective leadership and exceptional law practice.

"Jill Cicero is a 'lawyer's lawyer' and deserves to be recognized for her extraordinary professionalism. If there were ever a lawyer that we could assign to new attorneys for them to watch and learn from, Jill would be at the top of that list," wrote Mary L. Corbitt of Rochester(Executive Director, Monroe County Bar Association) in her nomination letter. "Her attention to clients and to the practice of law is without comparison."

Ciceroestablished her own practice in 1990, concentrating in trusts and estates law. Active in her community, she is chair-elect of the Rochester Area Community Foundation Board of Directors, past president of the Rochester's Women Network and past president of the Foundation of the Monroe County Bar.

Cicero received her undergraduate degree from Colgate University , and earned her law degree from Cornell Law School. She has been recognized for excellence in law practice by Best Lawyers in Americaand New York Super Lawyers.
