Margaret J. Finerty
Margaret J. Finerty, a partner at Getnick & Getnick LLP in New York City, was elected a member-at-large of the Executive Committee. Finerty’s practice includes federal and state whistleblower cases, complex anti-fraud commercial litigation, corporate monitoring, and business integrity counseling.
She joined the firm in 1998 after a 20-year career in public service. She served as a New York City criminal court judge from 1995–1998. Prior to that, she worked for 17 years in the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office under Robert Morgenthau. During that time, she served as a deputy bureau chief of both a trial bureau and the frauds bureau, and a senior trial counsel prosecuting serious and high-profile felony cases.
Finerty serves on the State Bar’s Audit Committee and in the House of Delegates. She has served as a liaison to the American Bar Association’s Task Force on Corporate Monitors Standards, and was a commissioner on its Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity Commission.
She is a graduate of the University of Chicago and earned her law degree at Cornell Law School.
