The New York State High School Mock Trial Finals are held in Albany, NY in May over a three day period. The finalists from each region travel to Albany to participate. Expenses for the teams and coaches/mentors are paid for through a grant from The New York Bar Foundation.  On Day One, following hotel check-in and dinner, the teams are granted practice time to finalize their presentations.  On Day Two, all teams compete twice to determine the top two teams that will move forward to compete in the final round.  On Day Three, the final round is held to determine the New York State Mock Trial Champion. While in Albany, the students are given the opportunity to network with students from around the state who share similar interests and pursuits. All students participating in the New York State Mock Trial Finals receive special awards and a commemorative tee shirt. More importantly, the students leave Albany with the knowledge that they did their best in one of the oldest and largest Mock Trial programs in the nation.  Go to for more info.

The New York State Mock Trial Summer Institute (MTSI) is an intensive week-long educational camp for high school students who are involved with mock trial. Students are selected to attend MTSI through an application process. Teachers and attorneys must provide letters of recommendation for the student to be considered.   MTSI typically takes place at Silver Bay YMCA on Lake George during July and runs from Sunday to Friday. Applications are accepted in the spring for consideration for that year’s MTSI.  The number of students accepted varies, but MTSI can accommodate up to 48 students. The fee for New York State students is $250.00 and $1,000.00 for out of state students. The fee includes the room, all meals, classroom materials, and activities and is due upon acceptance. Some financial assistance is available to qualified attendees.  Go to for more info.
