July 14 Event
The Corporate Counsel Section (along with the International Law Section) was proud and happy to sponsor this event, hosted by Ethical Systems, a nonprofit dedicated to improving the ethical frameworks of companies. Featured speakers attended from all over, including Washington D.C. and as far away as England, discussing the implications of a pioneering UK study of 400 in-house lawyers working in commercial, government and third sectors, surveyed about their opinions of the pressures of forwarding business goals sometimes at the expense of ethical or even legalistic concerns. There was a scholarly flavor to the presentation that made it a tad different from the average CLE, and some of the best information came out during the lively Q&A period of the panelists. A collegial mixing over wine and cheese followed, allowing many to make friends with the many attendees representing a diverse spread of professions and localities.
