Rene Hollyer

A. Rene Hollyer has his law degree from Columbia Law School, a Masters Degree in Public Affairs from the Woodrow Wilson School, Princeton University, and his undergraduate degree from Williams College. He is admitted to the bars of New York, New Jersey and the District of Columbia.

Mr. Hollyer has extensive experience in the areas of Commercial Litigation, Mediation, Arbitration, Contract Negotiation and Attorney Ethics. Upon graduating from law school, he served as Law Secretary to a highly respected Judge in the New Jersey Superior Court, Essex County Chancery Division. Thereafter, Mr. Hollyer became associated with the litigation department of a large Manhattan law firm that practiced principally in the area of antitrust, securities and other high end commercial litigation. Later, Mr. Hollyer was appointed as an Assistant U.S. Attorney for the District of New Jersey, where he did a wide range of litigation both on the trial and appellate levels. After approximately six years of practice, Mr. Hollyer established his own firm, and has continued to work in firms bearing his name for more than 25 years. During this period Mr. Hollyer has tried cases in both the State and Federal courts, and has engaged in a broad range of discovery and motion practice in those courts, as well as appeals. He has also participated in Alternative Dispute proceedings, both mediations and arbitrations, conducted through the American Arbitration Association, JAMS, and others.

Mr. Hollyer has had extensive mediation training in programs given in conjunction with the Supreme Court, New York County, Commercial Division, the United States District Court, Southern District of New York, the New Jersey Superior Court, Civil, and the New York and New Jersey State Bar Associations. He has been appointed to the Roster of Mediators for the Supreme Court, New York County, Commercial Division, the New Jersey Superior Court, Civil, General Equity and Probate, the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York and the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of New York. Mr. Hollyer is a member of the Dispute Resolution Section of the New York State Bar Association, Secretary elect of that Section, and a member of the Mediation Committee of that Section. Mr. Hollyer has been appointed to the New York City Bar Association’s Alternative Dispute Resolution Committee starting the fall of 2013 and he is a member of the Dispute Resolution Section of the New Jersey State Bar Association. Mr. Hollyer is a member of the New York Chapter of the National Academy of Distinguished Neutrals.

In addition to his service to his clients over the years, Mr. Hollyer has spent a substantial amount of his professional time serving on numerous bar association committees relating to attorney ethics including the following committees of the New York City Bar Association: Professional Ethics, Professional Responsibility, and Professional Discipline. He has served as a mediator and later as Chair of the Complaint Mediation Panel for the New York Supreme Court, Appellate Division, First Department. He has also served as the Chair for the Special Committee on Procedures for Judicial Discipline for the New York State Bar Association. Mr. Hollyer has served two four-year terms as a member of the New York State Bar Association’s House of Delegates and is currently an alternate Delegate for the New York City Bar Association’s Delegation to the NYSBA’s House of Delegates.
