Peter Bernbaum

Peter Bernbaum is a mediator and corporate attorney focusing on representing public and closely-held corporations and individual entrepreneurs in complex business, contract and transactional matters.  

Mr. Bernbaum’s corporate background includes extensive work with clients in the cable, broadcast television, and new media industries.  His clients have included large multi-system cable television operators and major US broadcast and satellite networks. In the early days of the cable industry, he represented many of the cable industry’s pioneers as they were building the initial network of cable systems and launching new satellite programming services throughout the United States.  Mr. Bernbaum also concentrates in the negotiation of complex retransmission consent and programming content and affiliation agreements. 

In addition to his law and mediation practice, Mr. Bernbaum is an adjunct professor at St. John’s University School of Law where he teaches courses in negotiation and drafting alternate dispute resolution documents.  He also is a lecturer at the Paul F. Harron Graduate Program in Television Management at Drexel University.   

Mr. Bernbaum is a mediator for the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York, the New York State Supreme Court Commercial Division in New York County, the New York State Unified Court System, the New York Office of the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, and Volunteer Lawyers for the Arts in New York City.  

Mr. Bernbaum is a graduate of Harvard College and the University of Pennsylvania Law School.  He also holds a Certificate in Workplace Alternative Dispute Resolution and Conflict Management from the Scheinman Institute on Conflict Resolution at Cornell University.
