Professional Experience
I have been a partner in the New York office of Dorsey & Whitney LLP since 1988.  I served as Co-Chair of the firm’s Global Litigation practice from 2004 through 2006, and as Partner-in Charge of its Global Advocacy and Litigation practice from 2007 through 2012. I am currently a member of the firm’s Policy Committee and Co-Chair of its Class Action Litigation practice.

Primary Practice Areas 
Commercial and international arbitration and litigation; antitrust, product distribution involving dealership, distributorship, franchise and licensing arrangements; business torts; defamation; trade secrets and unfair competition.

Dispute Resolution Experience and Training
I have served as an arbitrator of approximately 130 complex commercial and international disputes, most of which have proceeded to final award.  (I have also mediated approximately 75 disputes.) I have served as panel chair, as a member of a three-arbitrator panel, and as sole arbitrator in approximately equal proportions of these arbitration proceedings, and have written final awards in approximately 50 of such cases.  I am a Fellow and member of the Board of Directors of the College of Commercial Arbitrators, and a member of the National Academy of Distinguished Neutrals, both of which are peer-selected organizations.  I am a member of the Board of Directors (and Executive Committee) of the New York International Arbitration Center, and a member of the International Arbitration Club of New York, the London Court of International Arbitration, the CPR Panel of Distinguished Neutrals (Cross Border and Franchise Panels), the American Arbitration Association (“AAA”) Large Complex Case Panel of Arbitrators (and Panel of Mediators), the Panel of Arbitrators for the Plan of Court-Annexed Arbitration of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of New York, and the Panel of Mediators for the Mandatory Mediation Program of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York. I have taught the AAA’s program entitled “Chairing an Arbitration Panel: Managing Procedures, Process & Dynamics,” as well as other programs on best practices in arbitration and mediation advocacy.

I have been listed in Best Lawyers in America for both Arbitration and Mediation, and in New York SuperLawyers for Business Litigation, since 2006, and in Who’s Who Legal – Commercial Mediation since 2011.  I am a member of the Executive Committee, Dispute Resolution Section, New York State Bar Association, the Board of Directors of the Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights Under Law, and the Board of Directors of the Fund for Modern Courts.
