View Summer 2015 Fellowship Information

The fellowship is named to honor and recognize former long-time member and leader of the Intellectual Property Law Section, Miriam “Mimi” Maccoby Netter, Esq., for her singular and extraordinary contributions that have brought about the section’s success and growth. The fellowship is funded through gifts to The New York Bar Foundation from the Intellectual Property Law Section of the New York State Bar Association.

One grant, valued at $5,000, is awarded to a public interest intellectual property organization or charity, who will offer the fellowship to a student enrolled in a law school located in New York State during the upcoming Spring semester, or to a person who received their JD any time within the last three years. The fellowship will take place during the summer. The fellow will assist the organization with matters relating to intellectual property law.

If you are interested in participating in such a fellowship, we encourage you to contact an IP organization or charity of interest to you and let them know of the availability of this grant.  Please note that the organization/charity itself must apply for the grant directly, and law students or young lawyers may not do so on organization/charity’s behalf.

Public interest legal organizations or charities interested in conducting The Miriam Maccoby Netter Fellowship, created and funded by the Intellectual Property Law Section must submit a grant proposal to The New York Bar Foundation on or before the application deadline.  Grant applications are available at www.tnybf.org/grantapp.htm. You may also visit www.tnybf.org and click “Apply for a Grant” on the right side of the home page.

For complete details, see The Miriam Maccoby Netter Fellowship Guidelines at www.tnybf.org (see "Applications for Scholarships and Fellowships").

Any questions may be directed to the New York Bar Foundation at foundation@tnybf.org or (518) 487-5651.

We hope that you will consider taking advantage of this opportunity for a valuable summer fellowship that can help to advance you in your intellectual property law career.
