The Summer
Meeting was in a family friendly venue –the vibrant capital of Maryland and
jewel of the Chesapeake Bay. Annapolis is a captivating vacation destination
packed with history, beauty, and activity. The section offered informative MCLE
credits including a study of the Ethan Allen Case and its impact on the area of
governmental regulations; safety on the water and how national standards
address the responsibilities of all; the issue of governmental liability as
reviewed by the Presiding Justice of the Appellate Division, Third Department,
and an update and overview of insurance industry sectors, expectations of
counsel, and the elusive bottom line.

Wednesday, January 23, 2013: the
Torts, Insurance and Compensation Law Section and Trial Lawyers Section honored
Honorable Jonathan Lippman, Chief Judge of the State of New York, at a cocktail
reception and dinner, held at Cipriani 42nd Street .
Thursday, January 24, 2013 the
Torts, Insurance and Compensation Law Section and Trial Lawyers Section offered
the latest developments in your practice area with a full day of CLE. Topics included The Evolution of Electronic
Discovery, Electronic Record Keeping in the Digital and Social Media Age,
Excess, Surplus and Specialty Lines Insurance, Automobile Accidents—Beyond the
Basics, Worker’s Compensation in a Nutshell, and Ethics and Lawyer
Civility.
2012 Summer Meeting,
Intercontinental Montreal, Quebec, Canada August 16-19
This venue was at the gateway of Old Montreal
and the downtown core. The Boutique
Hotel overlooks the international business area and is minutes away from the
Notre-Dame Basilica, the Pointe-á-Calliére
Montreal Museum of Archaeology and History and the Quartier des
spectacles. The section offered MCLE
credits in managing social media risk, mentoring for diversity; guest statutes
and border disputes, and updates on no-fault serious injury threshold,
insurance law and much more. The program also included family friendly events
such as a ghost walk in old Montreal and an ice cream social.
