Picking up from last fall’s successful trust planning presentations, we are pleased to offer a new series of webcasts that will focus on four different types of trusts that are suitable for a client’s particular circumstances and goals that are revealed by the lawyer’s skillful interviewing and counseling. This first session is on Trusts for Infants.
As with last fall, this series will build your “toolbox” of estate/trust planning approaches by addressing several different trusts that are suitable for a client’s particular circumstances and goals that are revealed by the lawyer’s skillful interviewing and counseling.
In four separate sessions, the speakers will share techniques on how to communicate with clients and present reasonable alternatives, in addition to how to prepare the final trust document. What information must we necessarily have in order to properly advise the client? Only after the information gathering and analysis can the attorney reasonably look to the preparation of documents. What then goes into the design of the documents and their drafting? The experienced speakers in this series will share successful techniques for planning for the individual client’s situation as well as their recommendations on drafting the resulting trusts.

2503(c) trusts for minors, issues in having multiple minors share in a single trust, such as the oldest child getting all the money for college before the others get anything; alternatives such as 529 Plans that might be suggested to clients to avoid the trust altogether. Sprinkling trusts vs. separate trusts; when should things be left to sprinkle among multiple children, and then when should it be separated so that it no longer sprinkles? Why? What are appropriate ages?
