Committee on Women in the Law 30th Anniversary Cocktail Celebration and Journal Launch

Journal 2
On June 8, 2017, CWIL celebrated its 30th anniversary and the launch of the first issue of the NYSBA Journal devoted entirely to issues concerning women in the profession and the law at a cocktail reception hosted by BakerHostetler in New York City. The evening began with guests connecting over wine and hors d'oeuvres. Co-chairs Susan L. Harper and Ferve Ozturk then kicked off the celebrations by recognizing special guests in attendance and the efforts of the Journal taskforce, editors, and authors who contributed to the May 2017 Journal. NYSBA's Immediate Past President Claire Gutekunst, a past CWIL chair, shared her reflections on her year in office before welcoming special guest – and fellow Journal contributor – New York State Lieutenant Governor Kathy Hochul, Chair of the New York State Women’s Suffrage Commission. Lieutenant Governor Hochul commended CWIL for the creation of the special Journal and advocacy on behalf of women. She reminded guests of New York's leadership in the women's suffrage movement and the progress we have made since women New Yorkers gained the right to vote 100 years ago this year.
