Mark S. Gorgos

Mark S. Gorgos of Binghamton (Coughlin & Gerhart, LLP) has been elected to serve as vice-president for the Sixth District of the Executive Committee of the New York State Bar Association (NYSBA).
Gorgos received his undergraduate degree from Union College and earned his law degree from Albany Law School.
Gorgos is the managing partner of Coughlin & Gerhart, LLP, concentrating his practice in commercial law, municipal and education law, public sector labor law, and creditor bankruptcy matters. He is the primary attorney for a number of municipalities and school districts in the Southern Tier. He has served as a mediator for the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Northern District of New York and as an arbitrator for the Sixth Judicial District of New York.
A 29-year member of the State Bar, Gorgos served on the House of Delegates from 1996-2000 and 2005-2009. He is a member of the Business Law, Municipal Law, and Real Property Law sections. He previously was a member of the General Practice Section's Executive Committee and the Nominating Committee.
Gorgos is a past president of the Broome County Bar Association and a past chair of the New York State Conference of Bar Leaders. He is a fellow of the American Bar Foundation and a member of the Capital Region Bankruptcy Bar Association and the Central New York Bankruptcy Bar Association.
Gorgos currently serves as a member of the Albany Law School Government Law Center Advisory Board. He has been selected for numerous community leadership roles including those with Broome Leadership Institute, Community Hunger Outreach and the United Way.
