Access to Justice advocates, those who represent low and moderate income New Yorkers, should be concerned about the possibility of a Constitutional Convention in New York.  What are the possible risks and returns of a Constitutional Convention in New York.  What are the possible risks and returns of a Constitutional Convention for low income New Yorkers.  Will Article 17 be at risk?  Could we establish a right to counsel?  What are the possible benefits of court reorganization?  What are the odds of real change benefiting low income New Yorkers through a Constitutional Convention in 2018?  Join us for a discussion of the issues.

Leading practitioners knowledgeable about representation in Family Court proceedings will provide an overview of best practices and offer practical advice and strategies.  The day-long CLE will cover the outer boundaries of Article 10, best practices for representing third parties and relatives, provide an overview of defending and prosecuting cases involving domestic violence, cover the UIFSA, UCCJEA, ICWA and the Hague issues.  The CLE will feature a panel of experienced practitioners who will discuss special considerations in Family Court proceedings and offer practical suggestions and strategies for how to best represent your clients.
