The Corporate Counsel Section was honored and pleased to participate in NYSBA’s “Dinner With A Lawyer” program, an effort to teach young law students about the potential and realities of the practical side of the law.

We were fortunate to have our very own David Perlman, himself a former Chair of this Section, speak on behalf of our Section, answer the many eager questions from students, and dispense his sagacious advice.  The event was attended by approximately 30 students (1-L and 3-L) and several NYSBA representatives.  David, personally spoke with about half a dozen students of different backgrounds on a variety of topics of interest to them, including the reasons they wanted to be lawyers and what being an in-house lawyer was really like (especially freedom from the tyranny of time sheets).

The Corporate Counsel Section looks forward to participating in more events with the younger members of our profession, and encourages our more experienced colleagues of our Section to become more involved with them, either through mentoring, providing mentorships or even, just like David, sharing a little wisdom from time to time.  If you are interested, please contact our Section Liaison and she will be happy to get you more involved.
