About the Criminal Justice Section

WELCOME!

The Criminal Justice Section of the New York State Bar Association is pleased to welcome Section members and visitors. This site offers an array of resources, including Law Watch search results that provide access to substantive topics and the supporting cases, substantive law reports and resolutions, and the opportunity for members to join in discussion groups on relevant topics in the Criminal Justice Section e-community.

Sherry Levin Wallach of Mt. Kisco (Wallach and Rendo, LLP) is the new chair of the Criminal Justice Section.

Wallach concentrates her practice on criminal defense and plaintiff personal injury in state and federal courts. She is chair of the State Bar’s Membership Committee and has served two four-year terms in the House of Delegates. Wallach is co-membership chair of the Trial Lawyers Section.

Wallach is a member of the Task Force on Gun Violence, the Committee to Ensure Equality in Mandated Representation and is a co-founder of the Young Lawyers Section Trial Academy. Wallach is past chair of the Young Lawyers Section and sits on the board of directors of the Westchester County Bar. She also serves on the Westchester and Putnam County 18B panels, which provide criminal defense for indigent people.


MISSION STATEMENT

The purpose of this Section shall be to anticipate, recognize and address such issues of crime, criminology, criminal procedure, correction and the administration of criminal justice as properly come before or should come before the New York State Bar Association.
