Friends and Family Members

The coach for each team attending the State Finals is provided with a Friends and Family Letter providing detailed information to distribute to the parents. Click here for a copy of the letter.

Friends and family who will be attending the Finals are responsible for making their own arrangements for accommodations and meals and may not participate in any of the meals provided for the Mock Trial team members. There are several places to eat within walking distance of the Hilton, as well as in the hotel itself.

Rooms may be available at the Hilton Albany, however, friends and family may not reserve a room in our room block. The room block is reserved for team members and NYSBA staff only.

Announcements and Awards Ceremony

For your planning purposes or to help you in any decision making, the part that the students look forward to (and that generates the most excitement) is the announcement of the two teams who are moving on to the Finals, which happens following a short award ceremony during dinner on Monday evening (around 8:00 pm).  Guests are welcome to join us for this, however, no meal will be provided for them.  Seating is reserved for the teams, but guests are welcome to stand in the back of the room during the ceremony.

Team Check-In

Team members should arrive at the hotel on Sunday between 3:00-5:00 pm. The Coach must check in with the State Bar Coordinator at the Registration table in the lobby upon arrival.

Media Release Form

All team members (students, coaches and advisors), must sign a Media Release Form which has been provided to each team's coach. The signed forms should be given to the State Bar Coordinator upon arrival at the hotel.  Click here to download the Media Release Form.

The Trials / James T. Foley Federal Courthouse (United States District Court)

Click here for a map with directions to/from the Hilton and Courthouse

All trials will be held at the James T. Foley Federal Courthouse, 445 Broadway, Albany, NY 12207.  Friends and family of the winning teams are welcome to come to the courthouse and watch the Semi-Final rounds on Monday.  All teams should attend the Final round on Tuesday.  Guests are welcome to attend, however, team members will have priority seating in the courtroom.

IMPORTANT!  Everyone entering the Federal Courthouse must pass through a security checkpoint and a metal detector. Everyone must leave all electronics (cameras, cell phones, smart watches, etc.) in your room or vehicle. Please do not attempt to bring them - this will slow down entry into the courthouse.  Security will confiscate the items, and they will not be returned to you until you leave the courthouse.  Items such as belts, lapel or hair pins should be removed prior to going through the metal detector.  Parents and guests should allow all team members to enter the courthouse first to ensure they are in their designated courtrooms on schedule.
